International Clinics – UK patients?

Wendey Munro, The Fertility Pharmacy – Clinical Marketing Director

What would be the elite combination of practical, all round support for IVF
patients from the UK?

For the past 12 months I have been part of The Fertility Pharmacys’ Market Research Investigation looking at the key hurdles inhibiting a smooth interface between International IVF clinic providers and UK patients. I, along with my colleagues, wanted to make sure that we make every step of the IVF journey as straightforward as it can be for both clinics and patients!

The first pain point was unanimous, focusing on how to improve pre visit care. During many conversations with international clinics who welcome UK patients, we learned that organising pre clinic blood tests and scans is really time consuming for the nurses and patient coordinators, and they would love some help with this.

So, it seemed logical and valid to offer this service to clinics for UK patients in order to help reduce clinic workload. This simple, streamlined service has been really popular, to be honest, it’s actually heartening to hear that we’ve helped clinics to help patients.

The second pain point identified was the difficulty in knowing how to access medications back home. We specialise in helping patients who have chosen to travel, so, to provide a simple structured service from our IVF pharmacy was easy to do. We knew the service needed to be high quality, nationwide, open and with transparent costing.

So that’s what we created for you. I have received several endorsements from clinics who have been delighted with how we match the high levels of service provided by the clinic itself.

The third pain point arrived from our nurse focus groups. It soon became apparent that IVF nurses were concerned that when their patients returned home, they felt doubtful that patients were self – administering their meds properly. Many nurses voiced concern that some ladies felt fearful of injecting themselves successfully.

So, we designed a system where international IVF clinics can recommend that patients in the UK can have a supportive and caring nurse to help with those first night needle nerves. I am proud that we are unique in providing complete hands on support for your UK patients.
