IVF patients journeys sometimes need help!

What is the missing link?

The word ‘journey’, which is a very commonly used expression when embarking on a round of IVF treatment is suggestive of a pleasant holiday, a fun time without stress, a relaxing trip abroad perhaps – hmmm?

How close to the truth is that exactly?

Actually, we know quite well how close to the truth this is because several members of our own team have experienced this ‘journey’ over recent years, so let us shine a light on some of the issues we’ve discovered you may (or may not), experience.

Planning the journey in the first place is daunting, but there are great experts out there who can guide you through each step of the decisions.

IVF Media and The International Fertility Company both have many years of experience offering guidance if your journey includes non UK fertility treatment.

If we continue to apply the word ‘journey’ during this narrative, we must do so with a colossal dose of ‘down to earth’ realism attached.

The minute you board this IVF ship you soon realise that the pitfalls are balanced against the blessings, the disappointments balanced against the success stories.

So, the whole journey is fraught with riding crests and troughs. People talk about elation, hope and trepidation all in the same sentence. Everyone we have spoken to mentions that the odd thing about IVF is that it pre-occupies your every waking moment when you are in the midst of the journey, but then fades away when you achieve the desired result.

But – support is sometimes required for the most steadfast and resolute of us, at some point, right?

Our families have told us that during their own IVF journeys’ the level of emotional support was accessible from some great providers, such as:

Andreia Trigo @ Enhanced Fertility.

However, as the journey gets closer to the destination we know that practical, hands on help is sometimes the missing link. We were told numerous times that fear, coupled with swathes of self – doubt kicked in massively once back at home away from the expert arms of the clinic.

We can help with that -particularly if you don’t know one end of a syringe from another – and why would you? Even experienced nurses often hate self – injecting, there is something innately alien about stabbing needles into your own body!

But, you have been prescribed an expensive fertility drug, which will just sit staring at you until you get the confidence to administer it.

Before you get into a state of panic, contact us – you can easily ask us to send around one of our Nurse at Home team to support you with that bit of hands on, practical support at this important stage in your ‘journey’.
